Our 9th Annual Program

In this year we have celebrated our 9th Annual Program by three steps. Those are:

1. We arranged a music competition on the music of Sri Manna Dey at Birla Academy Auditorium on 18th April, 2014 from 12 noon to 6pm. Total of 58 competitiors took part in the program. Eminent Music Director Sri Kalyan Sen Barat, Music Composer Sri Tapan Sinha, Music Arranger Sri Ramkrishna Pal and the eminent artist Sri Pallab Ghosh was in our panel of judges.

2. From 27th April to 1st May, 2014 we organised a Photograph Exhibition of the rare photographs of Sri Manna Dey. A total of 151 composed frame was displayed in the exhibition. More than 2000 viwers, including the close associates and family members of Sri Manna Dey  visited the exhibition and expressed their gratitude and thanks for arranging such a beatiful exhibition of Sri Manna Dey. The eminent Film Director Dr Satarupa Sanyal, eminent photographer Sri Tarapada Bandyopadhyay and Mr S.F.Karim, the CEO of SARAGAMA (India) Ltd inaugurated the exhibition. 

3. In the 3rd phase we have cocluded our 9th Annual Program by a Cultural Program "Tomar Chhayay Tomar Mayay" at Uttam Mancha, Kolkata with a full packed auditorium from 6pm.  The program started with the chant music (stroto path) of Sri Manna Dey, follwed by a short film showing the activities of Manna Dey Sangeet Academy and the last message of Sri Manna Dey related to the Academy. Eminent Film Director Sri Gautam Ghose was  the Chief Guest  of the program and presented a very encouragable address to us. He handed over the certificates, memento and gifts to the successful competititors. He then inaugurated a new music album "Daradi Surer Raja Manna Dey" with Sri Kalyan Sen Barat and Sri Ramkrishna Pal of the new music talent Sri Shurjo Bhattacharya, who happenso be one of the music students of Sri Manna Dey. The team also released the souvenir of Academy.

Lastly Sri Shurjo Bhattacharya performed for the last two hours continuously with the continuous requests from the audience. He also requested his student and our member Sm Mahuya Bose to lent her voice for a couple of duet songs with him.

 At last the Executive Committee greeted Sri Shurjo Bhattacharya by providing  Hony. Lifetime Membership to Sri Shurjo Bhattacharya with a request to participate again in our future programs.

The program was successfully anchored by Sm Sharmistha Goswami Chatterjee. ri Satinath Mukhopadhyay also supplemented his experience with Sri Manna Dey.
