Observing the 1st Death Anniversary of Sri Manna Dey

On 24th October, 2014 all the members and patrons of Manna Dey Sangeet Academy observed the 1st Death Anniversary of the Great Indian Music Legend, Sri Manna Dey at Bharat Sabha Hall, Kolkata from 6pm to 9pm. The hall was almost full with the members and distinguished guests. The program started with the opening song ‘Aguner Porosmoni Chonyao Praaney’ by a group of members and after that Sri Debaprasad Chakraborty, President of Manna Dey Sangeet Academy narrated the condolence theme with a 1 min period of silence. Many distinguished artists and celebrities paid there tribute by their reminiscence and songs. Sri Abhijit Bandyopadhyay, Sri Kalyan Sen Barat, Dr Srikumar Chattyopadhyay, Prof. Dipankar Chattyopadhyay, Pandit Swapan Sen, Sri Parimal Bhattacharyya etc., to name a few. Sri Abhijit Bandyopadhyay and Sri Kalyan Sen Barat released a CD of Sri Ashes Dey where two songs has been music given by Sri Manna Dey. Vice President, Sm Rupa Sarkar, members like Sri Ashes Dey, Sm Malati Dey, Sm Shilpa Pal also paid there tribute through their songs. Sm Subhra Chowdhury recited a few poems. Secretary, Dr Gautam Roy shared his experience with Sri Manna Dey and also sung a song. Vice President Sm Sikha Maity conducted the whole program successfully. Asstt. Secretary Sri Rajib Bandyopadhyay offered the vote of thanks to all.
