TiitleFriends fm's Programme at Science City Auditorium
Content: The light of love ablazed for Padmabhusan Manna Dey in the evening of 8th March 2007 when the maestro began singing ‘Bhalobasar Aagun Jwalao’. 91.9 Friends fm (from the house of Ananadabazar group) arranged the programme at Science City Auditorium. In the first half of the programme Lopamudra Mitra, Srikanta Acharya and Nachiketa Chakraborty sang two songs each. Then the curtain went down. When the curtain went up the audience saw noted music composer Suparnakanti Ghosh seated in a ‘majlish’ with the accompany artists. After a short introductory address he welcomed his ‘Manna kaku’. The audience gave a standing ovation when the maestro came out of the wings in his blue suit with his songs’ copy in one hand to join his dear ‘Khoka’. The ‘adda’ began with the song “Thik Chhabir Maton’ - the song taken from his latest album. Then the adda went on with memorable songs like ‘Bhalobasar Aagun Jwalao (from Sanyasi Raja), Ei Duniyay Bhai Sabi Hoy (from Ekdin Ratre), ‘Aami Niralay Bose’. For Soumitra Chatterjee, who was seated in the audience, he sang ‘Aagun Legechhe’ (from Basanta Bilap). (Soumitra Chatterjee requested him not to add too much ‘spice’ in those songs so that it could be easy to handle.) From his numerous hindi songs he sang ‘Kasme Vade Pyar Wafa’. Time was too limited to quench the thirst. In the conversation he shared a few episodes of his life like he enjoyed ‘mutton with ladies finger curry’ in the house of noted music composer Madan Mohan. He dared to announce whenever he sang any romantic song with female co-singers, he saw the image of his wife in her. However he ended with the legendary ‘Coffee Houser Sei Addata Aaj Aar Nei’ composed by Suparnakanti Ghosh. This song is the adline of the brand new fm station.
